A Berry Nice Day!
Posted by : mark on Monday, November 19, 2007 - 03:02 PM EST
The Ulluriaq Spirit Committee arranged for our annual Berry Picking Day. When the sun is shining and the berries are ripe, there is no other place that we would rather be!! We only need to walk up the mountain just behind the school and there enough berries to keep everyone busy.

Year End Picnic and Celebration!
Posted by : mark on Monday, July 02, 2007 - 12:14 PM EST
SchoolNews Another super-duper school year came to an end at Ulluriaq. We held our traditional year-end picnic celebration.
Before the gourmet hotdogs were served, Gillian and her crew organized a local Tundra Trot race. Following the success of our regional team, the students were in high gear to participate in the local race.
Following our lunch, staff and students gathered in the gym for a slideshow review of the year. The presentation rekindled fond memories of another great school year. The staff at the school should be proud the great work they do—they are crew of superstars.
We also invited members of the community to join us in remembering Lydia Baron Emudluk. Lydia was our former Center Director and Secretary who died in a tragic fire in 2005. A carving, made by Daniel Annanack, will be displayed in the school as a memorial to Lydia.

Third Annual Film Festival and Art Show
Posted by : mark on Monday, July 02, 2007 - 11:53 AM EST
At the beginning of June, we presented the Third Annual Ulluriaq Film Festival and Art Show. The gym was decorated with wonderful artworks from students in all grades and sectors.
There were over thirteen different movie submissions from the teachers and students. There was also an independent submission from two students in Secondary. The quality of the submissions was even higher than in previous years. The audience at the festival thoroughly enjoyed their evening.
Ulluriaq Movie Productions is a New Paths in Education project that is funded by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. Funding from New Paths in Education in the last three years has allowed our students to excel in the learning of film making and digital video.
