WALRUS

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Bulls are very large, and span 10 to 12 feet. Cows, the females are 8 to 9 feet long.

Bulls weigh up to 2 tons, and cows over 1 ton.

They are all pink to cinnamon brown.
 

HABITAT AND LIFE CYCLE

Walruses eat mussels, snails, crabs, shrimp and worms.

The walrus can sleep while it swims.  He has air pockets in his throat that he fills when he wants to float.

They use their tusks for fighting during mating season.  The strongest and toughest males are the only ones who get to mate with all the females.
