PHYSICAL FEATURES
Height: up to 27 in., it is one of the biggest owls.
Wingspan: 45-60 in.
Color: In the spring, the
Snowy Owl moults for its summer colors which are brownish with dark spots and
stripes. In the autumn it moults once again, becoming completely white.
HABITAT AND LIFE CYCLE
The Snowy Owl eats lemming, hare, vole, shrews and small birds.
Is lays 8-10 eggs every year. She will lay them on the ground or in hummocks because there are no trees in the Arctic.
Owlets are ready to leave the nest when they are 8 weeks old.
Snowy owls have incredible
vision, especially at night.
