PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
The largest subspecies of Canada Goose is the giant, with a wing span of 6 feet and weighing up to 24 pounds.
The smallest subspecies is called the cackling goose, which weighs only 2-4 pounds.
The other subspecies nest
from southern Canada up to the arctic tundra, and travel great distances in
their annual migration.
HABITAT AND LIFE CYCLE
Canada geese fly in family groups. They fly in a V-formation in order to save energy, as there is less wind resistance.
Canada geese couples mate for life.
The female lays up to 4-7
eggs. Incubation take 25-30 days and the goslings are led to water within a
day after hatching.
