![]() ......an Arctic Char. Arctic char are yummy to eat. Arctic char can be big or small. They can be fast in the water. They live under the ice. They are not cold in the water. It is an animal. They live in lakes or the sea. Lots of people cook Arctic char. An Arctic char is very popular in Nunavik. They are camouflage in the deep water. I like to to go on the ice and jig for Arctic char. Arctic char are slimy to pick up with our hands. They can be also be caught by using hooks or a kakivak. Polar bear and seal catch Arctic char. Some Inuit people fish them by nets. |

......an amaruk. A wolf is an animal that lives on the tundra. During the night time they howl a lot. Wolves can be heard from far. Sometimes they are black, white or gray. In the winter they hunt in packs when they are hungry. In Inuttitut wolves are called amaruk for one or amaruit for more than one. Inuit love to hunt them for their fur. They have different kinds of pray. Wolves are bigger and stronger than dogs. Sometimes they fight for food. Wolves have sharp teeth. They enjoy play fighting. When they are sick sometimes they can kill people. When there are many wolves together they are called packs. Inuit people use wolf fur for parkas or amautiks. |

......a panak. It is made of steel. People use a panak to make igloos. A long time ago they used them more. Panaks are used by Inuit people. I don't know how to make a panak. Panaks are made of steel. We have two panaks. They are sharp. Sometime people go hunting with panaks. We found a panak on the land. It was old. Panaks can be short or long. Elders know how to make them. |

...... a tupik. A tupik can be big or small. Tupiks are usually made with canvas. Inuit people use tupiks for camping. It has a long center pole to help stand up the tent. Tupik have wood stoves for heat. They have pipes that fit through a hole in the roof. Tupiks can be camouflage when it is in the snow. It can be very hot in a tent. A lot of people can fit in the tent. Tents have a zipper. Tents are set up in the forest. Tents can be used in any season. In a tent we usually go to sleep early. When we go back we always put our tent in the shack. |
